• Description: A confidential, trauma-informed resource providing 24/7 crisis intervention, safety planning, and direct referrals for crime victims and survivors.

DBH ACCESS Helpline

• Description: Operated by the DC Department of Behavioral Health, this line connects individuals to psychological support and can dispatch Mobile Crisis Teams directly to adults or children experiencing severe trauma.

MPD Victim Services Branch (VSB) & Family Liaison Unit

• Description: Specialized law enforcement liaisons who work directly with homicide detectives to offer immediate emotional care, case updates, and grief referrals to families and witnesses.

DC SAFE (Survivors and Advocates for Empowerment)

• Description: The District’s primary 24/7 emergency response agency for domestic violence, offering immediate safety planning, court advocacy, and crisis shelter placement.

Domestic Violence Intake Centers (DVIC)

• Description: Walk-in centers offering legal advocates, temporary protective order filings, and emergency counseling referrals under one roof.

Trauma, Grief & Financial Assistance

Office of Victim Services and Justice Grants (OVSJG) Partner Network

• Description: District funding body coordinating specialized community organizations that deliver path-to-recovery therapy for youth, adults, and families recovering from violence.
• Hours: Monday – Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM.

Crime Victim Compensation Program

• Description: Provides financial reimbursement to eligible victims and eyewitnesses for emergency counseling, funeral expenses, medical costs, and emergency housing relocation.

Watch Public Safety Discussions

On Tuesday, July 21, 2026, Councilmember Frumin joined Advisory Neighborhood Commission (ANC) 3A’s  monthly meeting to discuss  domestic violence and public safety alongside representatives from the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) and Metro Transit Police Department (MTPD) for an open, vital conversation on neighborhood public safety and community healing.  A full meeting recording is posted on YouTube here.
