I am deeply saddened by the tragic shooting last night inside an apartment on the 2500 block of 41st Street NW in Glover Park, where a man lost his life. My heart goes out to his loved ones and all the neighbors processing this painful loss. I have been in close contact with leadership at the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) Second District (2D) since last night. I want to thank the officers and detectives for their quick, coordinated work to make an arrest, recover the weapon, and close the case. MPD reports that this incident was domestic-related. Public safety has been one of my highest priorities throughout my time on the Council. Delivering a safer city requires a balanced, comprehensive approach that pairs strong law enforcement response with proactive, neighborhood-level prevention. Ward 3 has experienced seven homicides this year, nearly all of them domestic-related. This is unacceptable and requires urgent attention.
