WASHINGTON, DC – Ward 3 Councilmember Matt Frumin has announced his budget priorities for Fiscal Year 2026, which he included in a letter to DC Mayor Muriel Bowser on March 5, 2025.

“As the Chief Financial Officer’s February Revenue Estimate powerfully drives home, this is a period of significant uncertainty with difficult budget choices ahead. Under the circumstances, my budget requests this year focus on targeted investments to preserve and strengthen key programs on which our residents rely.”

Councilmember Frumin’s budget priorities focus on six areas:

  1. Fully Fund Our Education Ecosystem
  2. Support Our Seniors
  3. Invest In Small Business and Commercial Corridors
  4. Continue Our Commitments to Public Safety
  5. Parks, Recreation, and Libraries
  6. Expand Supportive Services in Tandem with Affordable Housing

Councilmember Frumin’s budget priorities are shaped by his third-annual Ward 3 budget listening session and meetings with community members, issue experts, Advisory Neighborhood Commissions (ANC), and government agencies.

“This will be a challenging budget in this environment, but we can also leverage modest investments to significantly protect and improve our residents’ quality of life. I look forward to working with the mayor and my Council colleagues to achieve that goal.”
