On Thursday, November 13 at 10:30 am, Councilmember Robert C. White, Jr., Chair of the Committee on Housing, and Councilmember Matthew Frumin, Chairperson of the Committee on Human Services, will convene a public oversight roundtable with the District of Columbia Housing Authority (DCHA) and the Department of Human Services to discuss roadblocks to effective delivery and timely lease-ups of District-funded housing vouchers. The roundtable will provide an opportunity for the Council and the public to hear directly from agency leadership, housing providers, and voucher holders about the barriers that delay or prevent successful lease-ups of housing vouchers. Discussion will focus on administrative coordination, landlord participation, inspection and approval timelines, and the overall effectiveness of voucher utilization in addressing housing instability. The goal is to identify concrete solutions to ensure that District resources are reaching residents in need efficiently and equitably. The roundtable will take place in hybrid format in Room 500 of the John A. Wilson Building and via the Zoom web conferencing platform beginning at 10:30 am.
